Lakeview Bible Church wanted its front entry to be more than a way in and out. It's where people gather and mingle before and after service, the part of Sunday that turns a crowd into a congregation. But after an hour or so inside, walking out meant stepping straight into hard, bright Texas sun that hurts the eyes. Nobody lingers in that. The church wanted a space that invited people to stay.
We made one big move: a single five-point sail, nearly 1,000 square feet, spanning the entry and the gathering area in front of it. Joe Bland Construction handled the site work and anchor structures, and our two-person crew had the sail up in a day. It takes the edge off the glare the moment people step outside, and gives the congregation a comfortable place to talk before and after service.
It worked well enough that the church brought us back for the back terrace.
